Venice Kilt Run 2025 10-13 April

Save The Date - From the organizers, Venice Kilt Run 2025 is going to be bigger, better, and molte buono!

DATE CHANGE: The event is now 10-13 April (due to scheduling conflicts and locking down an awesome new location for the big party).

The party takes place in a hashers-only private event space with a staff and a full bar and, it's right across the street from the A&O Hostel, one-block from the Mestre Train Station.

ACCOMMODATIONS: As is traditional for Venice Kilt, travel logistics and accommodations are entirely up to you. However, we do highly recommend the A&O Hostel near the Mestre Train Station, which is just one stop away from the island of Venezia. We'll provide all the info you need to show up to each trail and event on time.

What's With Happi Coats?

Hashers occasionally wear specialized clothing on trail or to the closing circles. Common items include thick, knee-high socks (commonly referred to as "Shiggy" socks), kilts, or "happi" coats, while some chapters (aka "kennels" in hare-and-hound chapters) offer "earned" clothing such as bibs or sashes. Shiggy socks are worn to protect the shins and knees of the wearer from thorns, mud, branches, or whatever else they run through. The Hash has its own tartan for members' kilts.

Custom happi coats such as the one I have from A Kilted Hash, originated out of Japan, are also commonly seen and made to reflect the local kennel. Often, they are often adorned with patches of hashes and events you have participated in as well as hashers personal patches that you have met and or run with or even completed a challenge for. So get you happi coat on and share some pictures.

How The Murder Mystery Hash Trails Work

With Wonderland H3 hash trail murder mystery mix and mingle format you will find: No pencils. No scripts. No side games and/or complicated process. And a “real live murder” at the hash trail! The murder is solved throughout the trail and stops by mingling, sleuthing and reviewing clues, allowing everyone to participate fully to the extent that they feel comfortable doing so. This sets the stage for much spontaneity and ensures the trail and stops are kept lively all the way through closing circle!

Sound like a great time, Join Wonderland Hash House Harriers in Southern Pines, NC on November 16, 2024, for our Pirate Murder Mystery Hash Trail - Murder Among The Mateys as we lace up our running shoes and slip into our most seagoing pirate and wench costumes and outfits to embark on a memorable murder mystery journey through the harbor town streets and trails of Southern Pines!

Looking for a Kilt for Hashing, Running or Hiking, Look no Further.

Looking for a kilt for hashing, look no further, Sport Kilts has you covered and at a nice price with two great H3 tartans such as the Hash House Harriers Trail Kilt on the left and the Hash House Harriers Hunting Kilt on the right. Of course there are many other traditional tartans to choose from.

The Hash Kilts were conceived by members of the Society of Kilted Hashers, as trail-worthy, washable kilts for the world hash. The notion was to design a tartan, using G’s regimental tartan as a pattern, with the hash colors of green for shiggy, brown for mud and dirt, blue for water crossed, red for blood shed, white for trail, and amber representing our beverage of choice.

A number of tartan designs were evaluated and two selected and certified by the STA as Hash House Harriers Trail, for the golden sett, and Hash House Harriers Hunting for the darker, hunting tartan.

The Hash Kilt is box pleated to the stripe, as was G’s kilt, a rarely-used traditional method which makes for a more distinctive trail kilt. Hashers everywhere can enjoy the pleasure and comfort of a Hash Kilt, in the tartan of their choice, with the options of the original Sport Kilt, and models for men and women.

As a 6′ 4″ tall male, the Hash House Harriers Hunting Sport Kilt was my first, and by far not my last as I have a closet of them now. The 18″ length is my favorite for Hash House Harrier events, hiking, and running. I find that the 18” length is just right for me, it is light and comfortable to wear. The men’s standard length is a little longer and a great kilt as well. I can’t recommend these kilts enough for men and women who enjoy outdoor adventures and sports, and customer service is amazing. Tell them “Kilted Big Wave” sent you!

Murder Mystery Hash Trail - Murder Among The Mateys - Nov 16, 2024

A murder mystery event is a themed event where attendees dress up to match an era or a genre. They will then work together to solve a fictitious murder which occurs during the party or event. This event is often compared to a live-action version of the game Clue! Are you ready for a Murder Mystery Hash Trail, Murder Among the Mateys?

North Carolina has long been known as a haunt for pirates during colonial times. While some of those stories may be exaggerated, sites along the North Carolina coast offer opportunities to learn more about Blackbeard.

We know that Highland Scots were in the Sandhills, but what about pirates? Scottish pirates were often privateers, legally sanctioned to attack enemy ships during wartime. One notable figure was Captain William Kidd, a Scottish privateer turned pirate, who became legendary for his exploits and the persistent rumors of buried treasure. Let’s see what we can find of any pirates in Southern Pines as we investigate this murder.

The Story
After a voyage filled with pillaging and plundering, The Jaded Jewel, a pirate ship captained by Redbeard, an old but dangerous pirate is docked in a cove near Port Royal. As the pirate’s head into town to celebrate their homecoming and spend their gold and goods, a night of turmoil and trouble is sure to transpire.

As the night quickly steers out of control, one guest meets a tragic demise and ends up in Davy Jones' Locker leaving the rest of the party goers to bring the guilty to the gallows.

Is the culprit the profiteering pirate organizing a mutiny? Or, the saucy sea mistress who wanted more than a casual commitment? The perpetrator could be the seafaring merchant desperate to win the love of the governor’s daughter, or possibly a treasure seeking sea person incapable of sharing.

In a harbor village filled with backstabbers and buccaneers looking to get ahead, there is little reward for honesty and a high price to pay for deceit.

Want to be one of the scandalous characters and play a part, Rego early and let us know. We have 8 required characters with the possibility of 4 more.

A night of seamen, secrets, and scallywags await you at The Salty Sea Dog.

Starting location; Hatchet Brewing Co. Southern Pines, NC. November 16, 2024 1:30pm

Are you ready for the 1st annual Alice in Wonderland Trail May 3, 2025?

In a setting where tea time is always quite mad,

And the trail is marked where the runners go glad,

With a hat that’s absurd and a grin that’s a jest,

Where’s the place where the Hatter hosts his wild quest?

Are you going "Further Down The Rabbit Hole?"

In a place where you’ll cover plenty of ground, you’ll find clues scattered around.

To begin your quest, find where ground pound is the game. Look for the spot where it’s not too tame.

With shiggy in the mix, this next spot is key. Seek out the place where a wild thing might be.

A little bit of water is the final clue’s call. Look for the place where you might splash and all.

Combine all these clues to complete the quest. The final destination is where they all rest.

Alice in Wonderland Hash Trail Song

Here’s a fun Wonderland inspired song:

(To the tune of a playful, jazzy melody)

In Wonderland's realm where the lights get low,

The Hatter’s got secrets that he’s eager to show.

With a dash of intrigue and a splash of the sly,

The night is electric, with a wicked eye.

The Queen’s croquet turns a bit risqué and fast,

In this wonder-filled world where the moments last.

So come for the mischief, stay for the thrill,

In Wonderland’s embrace, where we bend every rule!

SoPiH3 Purple Dress Run 2024

Another great trail today for SoPiH3 for their Anal Purple Dress Run 2024 with a little over 30 Hasher’s.

Buck a Fuffalo laid the typical shitty trail to keep us all on our toes for about 4.5 miles of ground pounding, 3 bar stops and 2 additional drink stops and a lot of twists and turns.

We closed the event at On After with elections for the next year, with 36 Toys for GM, Capt Princess PPP for Ra and others. Thanks to the outgoing MM for keeping us on track and a job well done.

Venice Kilt Run

A great event that still goes on today after a young hasher by the name of KISS asked if a Kilt Run has ever been attempted and if having one in Venice would be a good idea; and The Venice Kilt Run was born.

The Venice Kilt Run was created by the Sacile Madness Hashers in the spring of 2010. Simple concepts were decided upon:

Wear a Kilt

Have a Friday and Saturday night pub crawl

Trail in Venice on Saturday

Simple but nice giveaways

Keep the price as low as possible.

Over the years the event has been hosted by Sacile Madness H3, Vicenza Derelicts H3, Bacon Beer & Beaver H3 and Sembach H3 or all combined.
